非常顺利。按照mitbbs.com的精华准备材料。来参加儿子的毕业典礼。一个美国胖女人，问题飞快，需要将材料背的很熟。问题没有特别的。主要两点需注意：给签证官的信要用心写;着装要尽量正式。

My research is computational chemistry. I was told that it take 2-3 weeks, VO gave me bule paper. By the way, I asked VO if applicant stay in USA for a little while, you can apply for your visa at the city where you have a trong tie, not necessay the same city as the first time application.

Plan your trip carefully.
No thinking at all. It is said that my last visa was too old (issued Oct.2001). No matter how less sensitive my subject is, it has to be checked. The VO appologized three times. And began to chat with me, is Cambridge as cold as Shenyang, where do you live in Metro Boston, blah, blah. Nice, polite but had to check you! I selected Asiana flights, somehow expensive, but no penalty. It repays now. A Chinese staff told me that I can authorize someone else to pick up my passport for me. Anybody has done it before?

Parents-in-law failed in their first two tries (more than 2 years ago). Got visa this time. Single-daughter. Bank statement in China seems to be helpful.

Checked 2/10, received email notice 2/28, pick up passport 3/2.
Just a matter of time. Be patient and enjoy the days at home.
