Thank you for your reply. There are several original copies?
I didn't know that. Our HR only gave me a copy. And sounds to me they keep the only original one... :(

Thanks for your information. Much appreciated... I've talked to our HR. They are still reviewing my document. Hope they can make a decision soon... Otherwise, I may have to go back without the original one.:(

There are two copies of the original I-797. When the USCIS sent the approval notice, they should have sent two copies to the lawyer, one for you and one for the employer. You should ask for the one that's supposed to be for you, not the employer copy. I think you need the original at the visa interview.
Thank you so much for your reply. Our HR still insists that they keep the original. But I do have the original lower portion of the I797A. Is this good enough? I did read the paragraphs on I797A, it seems that I can use the lower left portion to apply for a visa and submit the right lower portion with I94 when departing?

The top portion is not 797, which is Notice of Action. The lower one is.
Talk your lawyer to confirm.

据说,都是用原件的。至少最近的一个797表应该用原件。我用的原件。跟公司好好商量一下,借出来。用完了就还。一般,学校里是给借的。
