help: 护照有效期问题
My mother found that her passport is expiring in six month yesterday, but she already made an visa appointment two weeks ago.
Now she applied a new passport today (since renew the old passport is impossible). The new passport number and old passport number is different.
Will that be a problem when she goes to Beijing for visa?
Does she have to make another appointment by telling them that she had a new passport number?

Hi, there,
I don't think you mom needs to make another appointment. I had a similar experience this past October. When I was interviewing with the officer, he told me that my passport would be expired in 5 month and I had to renew it. I applied the new passport and went to the embassy again without filing the new 156, 157. In the new passport, it indicates the old passport number. it needs some explanations though, I think.

May I ask:
for your back-to-embassy visit, do you need to make a second visa appointment and pay interview fees again? Was your visa issued during the first visit?

You don't need to redo it. But be sure to take both old passport and new passport with you when you are going to see the visa officer.
