[签证经历] H1B 北京 07/23/2009 通过
从上次回国算起,我在美国呆了5年没回家了,身份从博士生到博士后,这次回国是第一次签H1-B。
约到的早上10点半,结果10点钟到的时候发现已经排满了人,后来才知道其实可以提前一个小时左右进去。
排了一个多小时左右才交了材料,然后是按指印,排队等待签证。
签证之前有个小插曲,因为按指印后队伍有点乱,有一个哥们插到了我前面,原先没在意,以为签证官会看上去签的人去找相应的材料。结果签证官仍然是按材料的递交顺序面试的。所以等到插到我前面的哥们去签的时候,签证官拿的是我的材料。
我一看不对,就上前道:Excuse me, I think that's me.
签证官和那哥们才反应过来,结果轮到我上去,签证官说:Sorry, I should have looked at your photo.
然后,他看几眼了我的I-156/157,然后问我:Who are you working for?
我说:XX University
然后他问我:What's your field?
我说:Phyics
VO:What specific field?
me:Sub-atomic and particle physics (憋着nuclear physics不说)
VO然后指指窗户上的列表:
1. Offer letter
2. Resume
3. Research Plan
4. Supervisor's Resume
Please give me whatever material you have.
me:Sure,actually, I have all of them.
VO略显惊讶,然后要了我的offer letter,resume和research proposal.
仔仔细细看了offer letter之后,VO说:You're a postdoc?
me:yes
然后他开始看我的research proposal.
VO:Can you tell me what you're doing now?
然后我大概的说了一下我做的nucleon spin structure的实验和今后的实验计划,然后尤其突出了我们最近试验中创造的一个极化靶的世界记录,VO变的很有兴趣,我猜他肯定没真明白,不过还是congratulations了我好几遍。之后VO就把蓝条子拿出来了,边夸我材料准备充分,边说给你visa了。
我愣了一下,因为是敏感专业,我又说了这么多专业词汇,一直觉得会被check,结果如此顺利。
不过我还是赶忙:Thank you very much!
签经到此结束,祝各位签证一切顺利!

Is Supervisor's Resume required for all H1B visa or only for post-doc?

on the window it's advisor's resume not supervisor's resume. It is for students' F1. This guy got it wrong.

It turned out to be an administritive processing. But my case got cleared on Aug 6, 2 weeks after my interview.
