I managed to ask a couple of questions though, in case it could be useful for anyone.
1. You can still request an interview of the F visa category in Shanghai for the week Oct 20-25.
2. If you have ever stayed in the US for over 90 days on an F2 visa, you can't request a waiver of the interview. I went on an F2 visa numerous times and only one time I stayed for 92 days, all other times I stayed 1-2 months. I will have to do the interview. What a stupid requirement!
